Willie Womack

Willie Womack began his Special Agent career with the United States Customs Service (USCS) 1986 in Key West, Florida, where he was assigned to the marine smuggling division.  This assignment primarily involved operating 40-foot-long speed boats patrolling, intercepting and boarding drug smugglers vessels. In 1989, Mr. Womack was certified as a firearms instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), a certification he held for 27 years.  Mr. Womack was also a founding member of the Florida Keys Warrant Entry Tactical Team (WETT) program. During his tenure, Mr. Womack was a team member and training coordinator for 4 years until transferring to the USCS, Sarasota office in 1993.

 

In 1993, Mr. Womack was recruited and joined the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Tampa WETT/SRT team.  Shortly thereafter he was assigned as the team’s training coordinator, a position he held for 7 years. Mr. Womack was one of the chief architects who developed the tactical doctrine which was the foundation used to train and equip several teams operating under the USCS.

 

In 2001, Mr. Womack transferred to the USCS, Firearms and Tactical Training Division (FTTD), Fort Benning, Georgia, to run the Special Response Team School as the National Training Coordinator.  Mr. Womack served as the DHS HSI SRT National Tactical Coordinator (NTC)(A) for approximately 5 years.

 

Since 1998, Mr. Womack has managed approximately 60 SRT Schools, and has taught and certified more than 1200 agents and officers in use-of-force and tactical operations training.  Mr. Womack conducted many field delivered specialized courses, such as protective security and dignitary protection training programs, active shooter response, crisis management, intelligence gathering, mission planning, advanced firearms training, and defensive tactics programs.  Mr. Womack also coordinated many protective security for national security events; such as the Super Bowl and Presidential Inauguration and the Queen of England. He has cross-trained with the United States Secret Service and is a graduate of the Department of State, Diplomatic Security Service, Protective Security Operations program.

 

Mr. Womack retired in 2016 with 30 years in Federal Law Enforcement. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Wichita State University and is currently a member and Instructor with the National Tactical Officers Association

(NTOA).
