Todd Rheingold

Todd Rheingold was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles. He attended Los Angeles City College where he earned an Associates of Arts degree in Administration of Justice. He joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1979.

 

In 2009, after a distinguished career, Todd retired from the Los Angeles Police Department with more than 30 years of experience in Patrol, Training Officer, Undercover Narcotics Operator, and LAPD Academy Tactics and Drill Instructor. Todd’s final 15 years with LAPD was devoted to full-time assignment with the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT). As a SWAT member, he served as an Operator and Crisis Negotiator and worked Crime Suppression Details, overwatch protection for Weapons and Narcotics Destruction, Witness and VIP Protection, A-Lists Celebrities and Dignitary Protection. Todd also worked closely and assisted the United States Secret Service in protecting the President of the United States and visiting Heads of State. Part of Todd’s SWAT duties included Self-Defense, Hand to Hand Combat Trainer, Suicide Intervention, High-Risk Warrant Service, Hostage Rescue, Barricaded Suspect Apprehension, Site Surveys, and Active Shooter training and response. He was also a Shooting Cadre Member and has trained thousands of in-service LAPD Department personnel and SWAT teams around the country including international teams.

 

During Todd’s tenure with S.W.A.T., he participated in countless Life-Saving Events including working on the front lines during many L.A. Riots, Civil Unrest, and high profile National News Worthy Incidents. Including the O.J. Simpson Pursuit and Arrest, the North Hollywood Bank Robbery Shootout, and others. Some of Todd’s honors include the Medal of Valor, two-time recipient of the Department’s second highest award; the Police Star, and many Police Commission and Citizens’ Citations for bravery, attention to duty, and outstanding service.

 

In addition, for over 20 years Todd was an instructor at the Fullerton College Police Academy, where he was a Drill Instructor and taught Police Patrol Tactics and Procedures, High-Risk Vehicle and Pedestrian Stops, High Risk and Active Shooter Response, ASP, PR24, and Straight Stick Baton, Self-Defense and Hand-to-Hand Combat. Todd earned a 1st degree Black Belt in Shudokan Ryu Taiho Jutsu and in 2006 was inducted into the Martial Arts Master’s Hall of Fame.

 

Todd has also served on the Los Angeles Police Revolver and Athletic Club’s Board of Directors, which promotes the morale, welfare, and wellness of the men and women of the LAPD. Todd currently works on various executive protection details for many Hollywood A-List VIPs and HNW Fortune 500 executives. Todd has also been a Police Technical Advisor, Cameo Actor, and Stunt Double in several motion pictures and television series.
