Steve is an accomplished professional soldier with over 28 years of military service in the United States Army as an Infantryman. Steve currently serves as Vice President of Operations, at the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center at Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia. He is responsible for the safety and security of thousands of visitors, state and federal dignitaries, and distinguished guests that visit the museum annually. In this role, Steve has developed an Active Shooter response training program and was also instrumental in designing and implementing an emergency medical action plan, for events involving mass casualty evacuations.
In 2017, Steve attended and completed the Homeland Security-Protective Security Operations Training Program (PSOTP). This comprehensive training program is based largely on best practices from the United States Secret Service and the Department of State Diplomatic Security Service.
During his military career, Steve deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm; Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan; and three deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Steve attended and is a graduate of the United States Army's' Force Protection Unit Advisor Course. He has developed numerous Force Protection and Security plans for visiting dignitaries and distinguished visitors, forward operating bases, combat outposts, and joint security stations during numerous deployments. In 2009, during Steve’s final deployment in Iraq, he served as an advisor and assisted the Brigade in training Iraqi Security Forces in counterinsurgency operations.
Steve retired as Command Sergeant Major and has held leadership positions including Squad Leader, Drill Sergeant, Ranger Instructor, Rifle and Scout Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, and Battalion and Brigade Command Sergeant Major. Steve retired as the 29th United States Army Infantry School Command Sergeant Major.
