Jon P. Poisso

Senior Board Executive

Jon Poisso joined the Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS) shortly after the 9/11 attacks in 2001. After serving in multiple offices at various levels, he was selected to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Senior Executive Service (SES) as the Supervisory Air Marshal in Charge (SAC) of the Newark, NJ Field Office in charge of all FAMS operations in New Jersey and Delaware. In July 2018, Mr. Poisso retired from federal service after 22 years of federal law enforcement and 12 years of military service.

 

Following the October 2017 attack at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Mr. Poisso became a member of the MGM Resorts International, Emergency Response Team (ERT) after his retirement from the FAMS. Since then, he has become the Senior Manager for the ERT program, a unique public and private sector collaboration high-threat mitigation program.

 

In the FAMS, Mr. Poisso has served as Assistant Supervisory Air Marshal in Charge (ASAC) of the San Francisco Field Office. He also served as acting SAC of the Cincinnati Field Office in charge of all FAMS operations in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky.

 

Mr. Poisso also served in FAMS HQ as ASAC of the Domestic Planning Unit in the Systems Operation Control Section. He was responsible for overseeing the planning and scheduling of all FAMS domestic missions while ensuring adherence to the FAMS Concept of Operations.

 

Previously, Mr. Poisso was assigned to the Los Angeles Field Office. He served as Squad, Admin, and Training, Assistant to the Special Agent in Charge (ATSAC). He was also acting ASAC for Administration, Operations, and Training for all FAMS operations throughout California and Hawaii.

 

Mr. Poisso was also a Federal Air Marshal (FAM) in the Las Vegas Field Office. He served as a FAMS Firearms Instructor for the field office and at the FAMS Training Center. He is a FLETC Distinguished Weapons Expert and the recipient of the FAM vs. FAM Phase II Shooting Award.

 

Prior to FAMS, Mr. Poisso was a US Border Patrol Agent in Fabens, TX since 1997. He served as a member of the El Paso Sector Evidence Team (SET), Bike Patrol Instructor, EMT-National Registry, Red Cross CPR Instructor, Collapsible Steel Baton Instructor, Oleo Resin (OC) Spray Instructor, Field Training Officer, and Field Intelligence Agent.

 

Mr. Poisso honorably served in the infantry with the United States Marine Corps and as a commissioned officer in the field artillery with the United States Army.

 

Mr. Poisso graduated from the DHS SES Capstone Program and TSA Senior Leadership Development Program. He holds an Executive Master of Leadership from the University of Southern California, Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Purdue University, and completed the American University Key Executive Leadership Certificate Program.
